Just dropping in to point you towards an interview I did last month that you can check out :)
At the height of the ‘Neil Young leaving Spotify’ news cycle, Charlotte Ryan for Radio New Zealand set out to do some research behind all the possible reasons an artist would want to leave Spotify. This lead her to bot streaming, and the article I wrote for Pigeons & Planes last year on the topic. Ryan hosts Music 101, the flagship music program on RNZ National, which she described to me as the country’s national public radio, similar to NPR or BBC. Together we talked a bit about the research I did for that P&P piece, and the current environment around how music is released and consumed.
