If you follow me on Instagram, or even just through the blog, this feature should come as no surprise. Since the earliest days of BLACKSTARKIDS I’ve been one of their most vocal supporters for their unique sound and drive. Nothing’s changing as the forward thinking band starts rolling out solo projects, including this dynamic debut from front woman TheBabeGabe. Full disclosure, this is an artist I work with directly supporting her career and releases, she’s someone I fully believe in with her combined work ethic, style, and artistic versatility. Pulling inspiration from future peers like Doja Cat & Tyler, The Creator, Gabe is quick to prove she isn’t restricted to one sound on her reintroduction campaign. There’s no shortage of variety with sticky hooks, soulful ballads, Janelle Monáe -esque pop hits, somber reflective cuts, and boomy west-coast kickbacks. If you like this, and I think you will, stay on the lookout for disc two on the horizon. 🍯
Standout Track: PSA
Other things I’m listening to
Lots of great releases from household names like Lucy Dacus, Japanese Breakfast, Saba, & Perfume Genius. Here’s a few more recent releases that may have slid under your radar:
Rob Apollo is back and debaucherous as ever on the third installment of the NSFW series, Redhead Jackass.
Pictoria Vark shows maturity and continued earnestness on her second album, Nothing Sticks.
The latest project from chlothegod, I Feel Different Every Day, shows tons of range and an extremely locked in sound.
Collabs a plenty with the latest offering from Kinrose, every garden.
Atlanta alt-pop artist girlpuppy retooled her creative approach (with rewarding results) for her second album, Sweetness.
Chioke’s debut When In Doubt, relishes in simple catchy indie pop.
EthanUno dropped a brief EP, necesidad, that continues his signature sugary Spanish pop-rap sound.
Dreamer Isioma delivers celestial rock across their most locked-in album to date, StarX Lover.
Courting’s latest album and longest title (Lust for Life, Or: 'How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story') may also be their best.
Q delivers Frank Ocean -esque vocals with a Steve Lacy style on his aptly named project 10 songs.
Slow Crush is the debut album from Alisa Xayalith, one half of 2010s indie rock act The Naked and Famous, that I feel like is sliding a bit under the radar with that fact considered? Very pretty sounding alt-pop project.

How am I doing? Still getting the hang of putting these together so open to any feedback you think might make the show better. Do I need to talk louder? Talk more? Talk less? What would you like to hear on the show? Is anyone even listening?
Having fun assembling these shows, and excited for what they can hold in the future.
Thanks for being a good listener
